Our Team
The Gateway Centre is led by Miss Jayne Gray. She has worked at the Gateway centre for a number of years as a qualified teacher and has a masters in special and inclusive education alongside numerous qualifications and certificates in autism, dyslexia and special educational needs.
There are two teachers who take responsibility for overseeing the curriculum and progress for key stage three and key stage four. They also run interventions for students during Gateway sessions and oversee subjects which are taught outside of the mainstream school. In addition, they teach specialist courses within the Gateway Centre for students on a more vocational pathway at key stage 4 which they plan and deliver, this includes CoPE.
We have one specialist keyworker who has undertaken numerous training courses in autism and is currently embarking on the ELSA course who can deliver curriculum content and specialises in emotional literacy and interventions.
There are nine keyworkers who work at the Gateway Centre supporting students. Each student is allocated a keyworker who liaises with parents and builds a strong relationship with their key student to help both facilitate learning and support students as they mature. Keyworkers undertake training yearly including courses in autism and other associated difficulties.
The Gateway centre has a fully qualified music therapist who works one day a week with individual students. Also, a speech and language therapist attends the Gateway centre weekly and provides staff training, as well as delivering joint sessions with students and offering consultations for keyworkers already delivering programmes of work.
The Gateway is currently being audited by Occupational Therapy to determine the level of service which needs to be delivered to the Gateway Centre.
