Jack Petchey
The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up to inspire and motivate young people aged 11 – 19 across London and Essex. Clarendon School participates in the Jack Petchey Award Scheme, which recognises and rewards the achievements of our students. Clarendon students can be nominated by their peers, staff members, parents and friends of the school for something they have worked exceptionally hard at or an achievement that has had a positive impact on their community.
The student body of the school votes to decide on six awards each year. Jack Petchey winners each receive a £250 prize, which they can choose to spend on a resource for the school community or maybe a reward trip to enjoy with their class. Winners’ achievements are celebrated each year at a public award ceremony together with parents and other local schools at which medals are presented.
Our last four Jack Petchey Award Winners:
Jess is a hard working student who is recognised by her classmates as a good role model. She is a supportive person who helps other students to feel confident and happy. She made tremendous progress in Year 10, sets high standards for her work and is a positive influence on those around her.
Vlad has progressed dramatically in a very short space of time. As his English and communication skills have improved, this has revealed a beautiful nature showing kindness and care to fellow pupils and staff. He is always enthusiastic and happy to learn and absolutely soaks up whatever you teach him. He is a great friend to his classmates, concerned about the feelings of others and has the ability to put a smile on everyone's face on a daily basis.
Gabriel has made excellent progress this year. He coped very well during lockdown with his distance learning and all the changes that came in those difficult months. He has matured enormously this year and shown others how to keep pushing forward and not give up in all things.
Leonardo has increased his independence and improved his attitude towards learning. He is most helpful in Maths, preparing resources for his classmates and supporting them in the session. He has made a great deal of progress, trying hard, beginning to 'take risks' in learning and not being afraid to 'fail'. Outside for breaks, he is supportive of others in group games and is always helpful both inside and outside of class with the jobs that need to be done.
