PRIMARY SCHOOL RELOCATION
Tuesday 20th February 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
IMPORTANT: Move to New Premises and Additional Closure Days for Clarendon’s Primary Pupils
As you know we are soon moving from our current site. Our new Primary Centre in Buckingham Road, Hampton is progressing well. We have now heard that the most likely date for the handover of the finished building is Sunday 13th May.
Unlike many new school builds, ours does not include new furniture, ICT etc. This means that as well as all the teachers’ and curriculum resources, we also have to pack, move, unpack and set-up equipment, furniture, interactive whiteboards etc. As you can imagine, this is a major task!
Following consultation with AfC, we will therefore be closing to the primary pupils for five additional closure days to enable staff to get the bulk of this work done and ensure as smooth a transition as possible for the pupils.
Please note that (subject to any change as a result of delays in the building programme) we will be closed to primary pupils from Monday 21st to Friday 25th May 2018, which is immediately followed by half term week.
Primary pupils will therefore finish on our current site on Friday 18th May and return to our new site in Buckingham Road on Monday 4th June 2018.
We are very aware of the disruption that such closures cause to families and wanted to give as much notice as possible of the most likely dates in order that parents and carers can make appropriate child care arrangements.
We have also been in touch with AfC regarding school transport. After the move, primary and secondary pupils will need to travel separately and a very small number of primary pupils’ eligibility for school transport may be changed by the move from our current site to the new site. The AfC transport team are working on this already.
Clarendon’s two new sites have been eight years in the planning, and we are all really excited that at long last the buildings are taking shape. I am confident that the new Primary Centre will provide our younger pupils with a much-improved learning environment, and that both pupils and staff will appreciate the extra space!
